Social Responsibility
Are We Solving a Problem?
It's a fair question to ask if we really are solving problems in the world. It's very easy for companies to slap on a socially responsible issue that is somewhat related to their business and "greenwash" their businesses. It is considered a deceitful advertising gimmick intended to mislead their consumers.
Social Responsibility is at the core of what we do at GoldFinX. Period.
Take a look at this statement:
The Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining sector is the single largest source of man-made mercury emissions, responsible for the release of as much as 1,000 tonnes of mercury to the atmosphere annually.
That's an incredible 1000 tonnes. And it affects you and me on a daily basis, including the food we consume and the exposure to mercury that creates unhealthy conditions for many of us. Read the following great article from the Global Environment Facility that talks about many of the issues confronting artisanal gold mining today and the far-reaching problems they are creating.
The Heart of Mine Foundation coming soon
This Is What It's All About: In light of the above, the Heart of Mine Foundation is coming out in full force in Q1, 2021. This initiative has been in the background of everything we do with our first mining initiatives in the Ivory Coast. And now it's becoming official in the new year. This will be a separate entity, spearheading many of the artisanal gold mining deep-thinking needed to make lasting, effective change. We're very excited about it, and more news is coming in the following weeks and months.
